March wildlife sightings at Xigera

As the first quarter of the year draws to a close, it's evident that 2024 is set to be a year of extraordinary wildlife sightings. Our cherished animal regulars continue to bless the land surrounding Xigera Safari Lodge, and alongside them, we've been privileged to encounter an array of new species and unforgettable moments. With the rainy season winding down, the elusive cheetah has returned, lured by the dry conditions and making frequent appearances this month. Our anticipation grows for further sightings of these magnificent creatures as the year unfolds.

Along the eastern floodplains, we've had the pleasure of observing elephant herds and tsessebe. Additionally, lion prides and leopards have been spotted sauntering towards the Boro River, which serves as the lifeline of our region as the primary water source.

Due to the relatively sparse rainfall this year, our elephant population has returned much earlier from their migration compared to the past two years, enriching our landscape with their majestic presence.
