Meet the designer
Charles Haupt of Bronze Age Studio in Woodstock is responsible for an extraordinary amount of custom-made metalwork at Xigera Safari Lodge.
Charles Haupt was born in 1980 in Johannesburg and graduated from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology as an industrial designer in 2001. Working closely with Otto du Plessis, he has spearheaded the functional design side of Bronze Age Studio.
Haupt's apprenticeship with Otto du Plessis and Bronze Age Foundry piqued his interest in sculptural furniture and his love of bronze as a material. His fascination with nature's seemingly unexplainable mathematical patterns provided a great deal of inspiration for his collections.
