A quiet seaside retreat
Okavango Delta, Botswana
The story of Xigera Safari Lodge is one of renewal. Of rebirth and family legacy, and of the pioneering spirit that drives us to seek out Africa’s wild spaces. The same spirit that inspired this remarkable reimagining, perhaps a complete reinvention, of an Okavango Delta safari.
This is Xigera (pronounced ‘kee-jera’), named for the Pied Kingfisher that makes its home amid the watery channels of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve.
Every aspect is handcrafted to beguile our guests’ senses and stir their souls – from the evocative interiors to one-of-a-kind encounters.
But Xigera is equally a line in the sand. A raising of the bar. A bold statement in the realm of luxury safaris, and an Okavango Delta safari experience like no other.
On arriving in Botswana, you must present proof of a negative Covid-19 test performed no more than 72 hours prior to your departure. Once you have disembarked the aircraft, a Rapid Test for Covid-19 will be taken by Port Health Authorities, it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to receive the results. Once a negative result is received, you may proceed through immigration.
During your stay at Xigera Safari Lodge, you can be tested for Covid-19 in the camp, 24 hours before your departure from Maun with results provided the next day between 10.30am and 12pm. The cost of the test is P990 per person (approximately $90), plus the cost of the flight for the nurse to come to the camp to do the testing.
In the event that the test is positive, a re-test will be done to establish if the first test was a false positive. If the second test is negative, you may proceed to travel. In the event that the second test is also positive, you will be required to re-test again and contact tracing will be carried out for all guests and staff at Xigera Safari Lodge.
Guests are required to report any Covid-19 symptoms to Mike & Marian Myers, Directors. Contact tracing will then be carried out for all guests and staff at Xigera Safari Lodge. If a guest is symptomatic, they will be required to isolate in their suite. If they are travelling with a partner, they will isolate together with their partner until the end of their reservation, whereafter they will fly to Maun to continue quarantining.
Guests are advised to check individual policies, but in most instances, hospitalisation or evacuation costs should be covered by travel insurance.
