If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to do an RT-PCR test but are required to present an authentic, valid vaccination card at the point of entry.
If you are not fully vaccinated, you must produce a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result that is not older than 72 hours from the time of testing, and at his or her own cost, be required to undertake immediate testing on arrival. Should the test on arrival be negative, you will be allowed entry but if positive, you will need to isolate within the district of the port of entry at his or her own cost.
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the above.
The test on arrival is a 2-hour express test, and you will need to wait for your results at the airport before continuing with arrangements. This is available in Maun only and will likely result in an overnight stay in Maun before continuing with the itinerary.
During your stay at Xigera Safari Lodge, you can be tested for Covid-19 in the camp, 24 hours before your departure from Maun with results provided the next day between 10.30am and 12pm. The cost of the test is P990 per person (approximately $90), plus the cost of the flight for the nurse to come to the camp to do the testing.
In the event that the test is positive, a re-test will be done to establish if the first test was a false positive. If the second test is negative, you may proceed to travel. In the event that the second test is also positive, you will be required to re-test again and contact tracing will be carried out for all guests and staff at Xigera Safari Lodge.
Guests are required to report any Covid-19 symptoms to General Manager Ben Seager. Contact tracing will then be carried out for all guests and staff at Xigera Safari Lodge. If a guest is symptomatic, they will be required to isolate in their suite. If they are travelling with a partner, they will isolate together with their partner until the end of their reservation, whereafter they will fly to Maun to continue quarantining.
Guests are advised to check individual policies, but in most instances, hospitalisation or evacuation costs should be covered by travel insurance.
Please note that these regulations are subject to change.
